The two students from Carnegie Mellon University have ended their stay with Palau Community College (PCC). For ten weeks, the pair resided at the PCC dormitories while assisting the college with its computer networking and website. Carnegie Mellon University is an institute of higher learning with campuses throughout the United States. Cheng Ding and Fachry Rozy Oemar attend the university’s campus in Pennsylvania. They are graduate students in information technology.
The pair worked with the Director of Computer & Processing Bruce S. Rimirch and system analyst Grace Alexander to improve the technical aspects of PCC. Mr. Oemar improved the networking speed of the computers on campus, specifically between offices and departments. Ms. Ding spent the weeks re-designing the PCC website. While keeping prospective students in mind, the website was re-designed for efficiency and relevancy.
Ms. Ding and Mr. Oemar have contributed to the improvement of the school’s technology, especially in terms of meeting the goals set in the institutional master plan.
PCC thanks the Carnegie Mellon University students for their time and assistance during their ten-week stay in Palau.
