The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training supported by the Continuing Education (CE) Division of Palau Community College (PCC) began on Monday, April 06, 2015. Held at the CE Training Room, a total of nineteen (19) participants signed up for the training session. Participants included fire-fighters, bomb squad members, and workers in the Aircraft Rescue & Fire-Fighting (ARFF) Division. Captain Estela Ruiz from the Palau Civil Action Team (CAT) 84-03 volunteered to teach the course.
The EMT Training aims to provide the necessary instruction that will help improve and build the capacity level needed to support the Fire Department Crew and ARFF Division of the Ministry of Justice. Core subjects for the training include an overview of the human anatomy & physiology, basic lessons in CPR & first aid, and instruction in skills needed for traumatic situations.
This training was made possible by the collaborative efforts of PCC, the Ministry of Health – Emergency Health Program, Palau Community Action Agency (PCAA), and the Palau CAT 84-03. Participants are expected to complete 300 hours of training. The training will end in December of this year.
