On Thursday, January 23, 2014 a delegation from the Taiwan Technical Mission and the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) visited the Palau Community College (PCC) – Cooperative & Research Extension (CRE) Multi-Species Hatchery in Ngermetengel, Ngaremlengui. The group was accompanied by Madame Ambassador Maggie Tien of the Republic of China – Taiwan Embassy in Palau. CRE Vice President Thomas Taro led the tour of the research facility.
The Taiwan Technical Mission provides agricultural assistance to numerous countries including the Asia-Pacific region nations. Visiting the CRE hatchery on behalf of the mission was Richard C. Hung. The mission was established in Palau on May 01, 1985.
NPUST is a university in Taiwan composed of six (6) colleges: College of Agriculture, College of Engineering, College of Management, College of Humanities & Social Sciences, College of International Studies, and the College of Veterinary Medicine. The university conducts various researches, especially in the fields of science and technology.
Visiting the CRE Multi-Species Hatchery on behalf of NPUST were Professor Mario H. T. Huang and Professor L. C. Hsia. During their visit, the group was able to visit both the Multi Species Hatchery and the Agricultural Demonstration Programs. CRE is a division of PCC that promotes and supports agricultural advancements for Palau.
