Kazuo Peter Miyashita Memorial Centenarian Family Scholarship
The Kazuo Peter Miyashita Centenarian Family Scholarship is presented on behalf of Nozomu Oscar Miyashita and Jason Bradley Miyashita on behalf of Kazuo Peter Miyashita (‘Miyashita-san”), who passed away in 2024 right before his 101th Birthday and was a long-time leader and businessman in the Republic of Palau. He was also instrumental in developing and fostering the important relationship between Japan and the Republic of Palau. The Miyashita Family is a committed benefactor and established donor of $10,000 to Palau Community College and the Republic of Palau. The Miyashita Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2024 by Jason Miyashita to help young leaders achieve and succeed in their academic pursuits in postsecondary education and build the next generation of Palauan business professionals. One eligible full-time student may receive a total of $1,000 for the academic year ($500 per semester). Alternatively, the award may be divided between two eligible full-time students, each receiving $500 per academic year ($250 per semester). In all cases, recipient(s) must continue to meet the eligibility requirements during the awarded period.

Moylan’s Insurance Underwriters Inc. is a dedicated sponsor of an annual scholarship of $1000 to Palau Community College. This scholarship fund was initiated in 2000 to help young people achieve and succeed in their academic pursuits in postsecondary education. Two selected full-time students are awarded the amount of $500 each for the academic year. Each student receives $250 per semester if he/she continues to meet the eligibility requirements.

The Faculty Senate Association (FSA) is committed to student excellence in any academic field and proud sponsor of two (2) scholarships per academic year, the “1st Year Assistance Scholarship” and the 2nd Year Assistance Scholarship”. Two students will be selected from each scholarship awarded at the beginning of each semester attended.

In addition to having his own practice, Mr. Shipper also served as Assistant Attorney General to the President and Senior Legal Counsel working with international clients on immigration, human rights, and international business issues. In celebration of its 20th Anniversary in the Pacific region, Matson Navigation Co. Inc. is establishing a scholarship that will support the educational endeavors of two (2) students enrolled in any of the following degree programs at Palau Community College (PCC): Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration, Automotive Mechanics Technology, and Traditional Non-Instrumental Navigation. The family of the late Ngiselacheos Rengiil are proud to sponsor this scholarship in her honor. Ms. Rengiil (1932-2022) grew up in the rural village of Ngchemesed in Ngeremlengui. Though she was only able to complete the 5th grade under Japanese rule, she always valued education and encouraged all her children to continue their studies for a better life. She was also well-respected for her extensive knowledge and teaching of Palauan cultural traditions. To her family and community she was a bridge between traditional and modern life in Palau. Her children offer this scholarship opportunity in order to help others continue their education.

The family of the late Ngirturong Yamazaki Rengiil are proud to sponsor this scholarship in his honor. Yamazaki Rengiil was a traditional chief of Ngeremlengui State who practiced carpentry by trade in Palau for many years. Noting his lifelong accomplishments, Mr. Rengiil was a master builder, educator, government advisor, public official, and a remarkably skilled man who helped build some of Palau’s first roads, bridges across Babeldaob and schools all over Palau. The selected recipient of this scholarship will receive $250 per semester.
