On Thursday, May 15, 2014 the fifteenth annual Palau Community College (PCC) Science Student Symposium was held at the PCC Assembly Hall. The PCC Science Student Symposium is a presentation of the researches and projects conducted by students under the science programs as part of their educational experiences.
This year’s science symposium featured the research presentations of Environmental Marine Science students Kyah M. Remeliik and Fabio Siksei. Ms. Remeliik and Mr. Siksei were interns at the Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC). During their internships, Ms. Remeliik and Mr. Siksei conducted different studies on Palau’s marine life under the mentorship of PICRC researchers.
The symposium also featured the projects of Information Technology (IT) student Joseph Anastacio. Mr. Anastacio applied the skills he had learned in the classroom in assisting clients in need of technical support. His two clients were PCC and Emmaus High School. Mr. Anastacio’s projects included creating databases, installing anti-virus software, and creating software.
