The 24th annual Pacific Islands Association of Libraries, Archives, and Museums (PIALA) Conference was hosted last week at Palau Community College (PCC). Beginning on November 10, 2014 the conference was a gathering of information professionals from across Micronesia and the Pacific region. In the span of five days, the information professionals participated in presentations and tours that allowed them to exchange information about libraries, archives, and museums across the Pacific as well as network.
The theme for this year’s conference was “Be Connected. Stay Informed. Community Transformation!” It reflected the important role that libraries, archives, and museums play in housing information that can transform Pacific communities and keep the communities well-informed. The conference ended on November 15, 2014 with a closing ceremony held at the Belau National Museum. PIALA generously supported the annual Thanksgiving Endowment Fundraiser of PCC by purchasing ten tickets worth $100. PCC would like to thank PIALA for its support!
