The Cooperative Research & Extension (CRE) Department of Palau
Community College (PCC) participated in a showcase for the Palau-Taiwan Farmers’ Association (PTFA) on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. CRE set up booths that featured its current agriculture, food technology, and aquaculture projects. Also participating in
the event were Dr. Robert V. Bishop of the United Nations Food
& Agriculture Organization (FAO) and representatives from the
Belau National Museum.
Information showcased by CRE included recipes that use local
produce as ingredients in nutritious meals, steps to starting small-scale farm projects especially in urban home settings, and posters explaining the importance of aquaculture. A raffle drawing in the afternoon allowed members of the community to win breadfruit
plants that were grown at the CRE facility in Ngeremlengui. The PTFA Showcase promoted local self-reliance by showcasing products made in Palau.
