On April 22, 2019, San Diego State University Bachelors Cohort began their tenth course with Dr. Marva Cappello. TE 530 “Children’s /Adolescent Literature” course reintroduces students to the vast array of books available today for children as well as young adults and strategies for using children’s literature in the classroom. At the end of the course, cohort students are able to recognize and distinguish among various genres of children’s literature, understand the values and purposes of literature for children, critically examine the contributions of outstanding authors, and illustrators of children’s books, develop and demonstrate a variety of strategies for using children’s books, develop skills in evaluating informal literature across the curriculum, apply evaluative criteria to particular children’s books. Dr. Cappello was in Palau from April 22-26, 2019 giving lectures and explanation on the course content prior to her departure to California.
